Well it happened again another mass killing by some demented person in our society. When will the unexplained shooting of innocent children and men and women in schools, malls, movies, churches and public places ever stop. And after these horrible acts the perpetrators end up committing suicide and leaving grieve and sorrow all over the place. They leave us with unanswered questions as to why these horrible shootings take place. What was on the killer’s mind, for them to carry out a killing spree on such a large scale? Were there telltale signs of some kind that was not detected? Was it an evil act or was it a mental break down? Questions will always be in the air and what motivated these mass shootings remain to be answered.
In some circles a solution is gun control and as a result there will be fewer crimes committed with guns. But it seems to me, the more controls you employ the worse things get. Some people say I own a gun and I am not crazy. Only responsible people should own guns. And others say that the constitution gives them the right to have arms. Victims of gun crimes voice another opinion on gun control, and who should have guns.
There is the argument of the right bare arms in our country that promotes the ownership of guns in your home for protection. The cry for banning high power military style large clip weapons is now being considered for congress to make laws restricting the sales of these guns to the public. Gun shows and other weapon outlets need to tighten up on background checks of individuals purchasing a gun.
Every time a horrific gun incident happens the anti-gun cry is loud and clear from the surviving victims and community affected. The public looks to the Politian’s and law makers for a quick fix and nothing ever happens until the next mass shooting takes place. I urge the law makers not to let the window of opportunity close on the 20 children, 6 teacher, mass shooting incident at Sandy Hook Elementary School in CT, and implement gun laws that restrict the sale of high powered, large magazine, assault weapons to the public.
Experts claim there is a culture of violence in our society that is responsible for these terrible acts of gun violence in our society. The violence in movies and television bring forth these ideas of anti-social behavior. Online entertainment, virtual reality and cyber space war games feature shooting and killing scenarios. Many young people spend allot of time playing virtual reality games and sometimes loose track on the number of hour they are actually online playing cyber space war games. In some cases, after extensive time online players can’t tell the difference between reality and virtual reality.
